LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. — Dr. Justin Sirianni, a pain management specialist from the full-service practice Coastal Orthopedics Sports Medicine & Pain Management, took time from practicing medicine to provide Nolan Middle School’s pre-medical program students with a demonstration of a spinal cord stimulator using an iPod Touch remote and an overview of his profession.
During the Oct. 4 presentations to two seventh-grade classes, Dr. Sirianni also covered the complexities of spinal cord stimulation and discussed his education, career path, day-to-day activities and the procedures (with fluoroscopy images) that he performs at Coastal Orthopedics.
“When we designed this program, we felt it was extremely important to invite guest speakers from all areas of the health science professions to speak to students in our pre-medical program,” said Pamela Rahn, the head of the pre-medical program at Nolan Middle School. “We appreciate the opportunity for our students to interact with all of the speakers, the information they provide and the chance for the students to visit their facilities. We are pleased with our partnership with Coastal Orthopedics Sports Medicine and Pain Management.”
Coastal Orthopedics’ doctors have been presenting at Nolan Middle School since 2015 to help prepare students who are interested in entering the medical field.
“It was a pleasure to speak with these two seventh-grade classes,” said Dr. Sirianni. “The physicians at Coastal Orthopedics are passionate about educating these pre-med program students and providing them with real-world experience and hands-on learning from real doctors.”
