Plasma-Therm Foundation Hosting Disaster Relief Barbecue Oct. 25

October 19, 2017 by Post

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Plasma-Therm families and other local companies are teaming up to raise funds and supplies for people affected by the recent natural disasters, by hosting a fun event offering entertainment, games, a barbecue lunch, and opportunities to donate to relief efforts.

The public is invited to join the Disaster Relief Barbecue from 11 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Metropointe Commerce Center office park on 16th St. N, just north of Gandy Boulevard. The Metropointe park and Gateway area are home to many firms involved in high technology and related industries.

Activities will include fun carnival games such as bean-bag toss; an executive dunk tank; a DJ from Party Doctor Productions spinning pop hits; and a barbecue lunch catered by M-N-N Barbecue of St. Petersburg. There will also be multiple chances available for prize drawings, including a top prize of First Class tickets on Delta Airlines for two passengers to fly round-trip to anywhere Delta goes in the U.S and Canada, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Plasma-Therm, a manufacturer of semiconductor processing equipment, has formed the non-profit Plasma-Therm Foundation, which is organizing the event with help and sponsorships from other local businesses and suppliers.

“We were so fortunate at our headquarters in St. Petersburg to avoid the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma, which affected so many, from nearby areas all the way to the Caribbean,” said a Plasma-Therm spokesman. “Our employees immediately wanted to find ways to help. We’ve already held two fundraising events, and are working hard to bring the community out to make a big impact with the Disaster Relief Barbecue.”

The event will be held outdoors at Plasma-Therm’s headquarters, 10050 16th St. North, St. Petersburg, 33716. The location can be reached from Gandy Boulevard by turning north on 16th Street North, or from Roosevelt Boulevard by turning south onto 16th Street North.

Lunch-only tickets will be available on the day of the event for $15. Prices for participation in games and prize drawings will vary. Cash donations will be accepted, and cash or business checks will be accepted for game and barbecue tickets (payment by credit card will not be available).

People are also encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food, toiletries, and items such as diapers, baby wipes, and baby formula for collection at the event.
