PHSC Former General Counsel Honored by Local Philanthropist

October 10, 2017 by Post

Pasco-Hernando State College’s (PHSC) former Assistant Vice President of Policy/General Counsel Stephen Schroeder recently was honored for his dedicated service to the college. District Board of Trustee member, current chair and local philanthropist Rao Musunuru, M.D., donated $10,000 to the PHSC Foundation to establish an emergency fund, in Schroeder’s name, to assist military veterans enrolled at PHSC.

“Steve contributed years of tireless and dedicated service to the college and he is very much deserving of this special recognition and appreciation,” said Rao Musunuru, M.D., chair, PHSC District Board of Trustees.

Stephen Schroeder is a United States Coast Guard veteran and served PHSC in a variety of capacities for more than 17 years, serving three PHSC presidents. Schroeder served as legal counsel for the Florida College System Activities Association from 2011 until 2017 and chair of the Association of Florida College Legislative Committee in two separate one-year terms in 2006 and 2011. He was the 2008 recipient of the Bob Graham Award from the Florida Junior/Community College Student Government Association, and in 2014 awarded the President’s Leadership Award by the Association of Florida Colleges.

“I am honored to be recognized with the establishment of this special fund in my name and very pleased that the fund will be reserved for deserving students who have served in the military,” said Schroeder. Schroeder resigned from PHSC in September 2017 to pursue other opportunities.
