TAMPA, FL (October 5, 2017) – Joel Pierrelus’ dream of a secure home for his three young children is about to come true thanks to some old fashioned hard work on his part and the efforts of Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County and JPMorgan Chase & Co. JPMorgan Chase partnered with Habitat Hillsborough to build a home in Lutz for the Pierrelus family. The family will receive their keys to the home during a 9 a.m. dedication ceremony Saturday, October 7, 2017.
JPMorgan Chase contributed $20,000 in construction funding for the Pierrelus home, which is part of the firm’s national partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. In addition, JPMorgan Chase staff members invested hundreds of hours volunteering during all phases of the home’s construction. A team of employees from JPMorgan Chase volunteered on the Habitat build site in June and other teams JPMorgan Chase employees joined forces to help with the construction of Pierrelus’ home in September.
Pierrelus’ modest income as a grocery clerk has made providing adequate housing for his children difficult. “I am grateful to Habitat and JPMorgan Chase for providing me the opportunity to buy a home that I can afford — a home where my kids will have a place they can call their own and grow up in with a yard to play in and create memories,” said Pierrelus, who will complete 300 sweat equity hours and 10 classes to fulfill Habitat Hillsborough’s program requirements before purchasing his zero-interest mortgage.
JPMorgan Chase has been a national corporate partner of Habitat for Humanity International since 1992, contributing to Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country and thousands of employee volunteer hours to help build homes for those in need.
