Kiwanis Club of Tampa
Builds A Car for Marvette

Marvette was presented with the keys to her “New to Her” low mileage 2001 Lexus ES300
by Kiwanis Club of Tampa
Friday, September 22nd at 4:30 PM at
Wheels of Success’ office.

This vehicle presentation would not have been possible without the Build-A-Car Funding from Kiwanis Club of Tampa to get her “New to Her” vehicle road ready.

Marvette was referred to Wheels of Success through our referral agency partner Metropolitan Ministries. She is currently working as a retail cashier using public transportation as her only means to get to work. Most days she and her daughter have to leave 2 hours ahead of time just to get her daughter to school and herself to work on time. After spending almost 30 hours a week on average on the bus, with keys to her “New to Her” vehicle will allow Marvette to work more hours to support her and her daughter’s independence.

Sometimes the Key to Success
Is Simply… a Key

“With a reliable vehicle my hard work is paying off with a brighter future for myself and my child”

Mary a single mother was referred to Wheels of Success in 2016 by Metropolitan Ministries. At the time she was struggling to get to work without a reliable vehicle and struggling to support herself and her young daughter.

She also had no support system to help her as she has no family or extended family located in Florida. Public transportation was not an option due to her 5:30 am work start time, as bus schedules do not start early enough for her to arrive to work on time.

Mary received the keys to a “New to Her” low mileage 2000 Nissan Maxima in May 2016 thanks to Build-A-Car funding from our Champion Sponsor AAA. “Now with a reliable vehicle all my loyalty, honesty and hard work are paying off with a brighter future for myself and my child”. Since receiving her “New to Her” vehicle Mary is able to get to work on time to support her family and also frequently works overtime. She now feels that she can be the best parent possible to her daughter both financially and by being fully active in her life- taking her to activities, church events, teacher conferences and much more. As a result of all her hard work we are pleased to announce that Mary has completed Wheels of Success’ 1 year program by paying off her vehicle and receiving the title. Her future and her daughter’s future are bright and her Wheels vehicle is still getting her everywhere she needs to go.

Thank you,
Mary

Special Thanks to AAA Auto Group for providing the funding to get Mary’s
“New to Her” vehicle repaired and back on the road.

Help Us Help Nikita Who is in Urgent of Need Reliable Wheels
Nikita is in desperate need of a reliable vehicle as soon as possible to remain employed.

Nikita is a veteran and single mother who was referred to Wheels of Success through Metropolitan Ministries. Her car has been broken down for over 3 months and is not worth repairing, so Nikita struggles to get to work daily. She does everything she can to get to work, whether it is taking the bus or getting rides from co-workers but she is on final notice from her employer because of her transportation issues.

Due to lack of transportation she and her 3 children are displaced and do not have their own safe place to live. She is in desperate need of a reliable vehicle as soon as possible to remain employed. With a reliable vehicle she will be able to get to work, regain her independence and hopefully find a place to call home for her and her children.

Previous Event
Brew Bus Brewing – August 9, 2017
It was an evening of fun, food and drinks while supporting Wheels of Success. At
7:00 PM Wheels of Success presented a “New to Him” vehicle to Kameron, a shining
example of strength & courage, who will soon exit the Foster Care system. Kameron
wouldn’t have been able to continue his journey of success at Hillsborough Community
College without reliable wheels. Kameron was referred to us by Family Resources’
“SafePlace2Btoo- LGBTQ Program”, which provides an affirming & safe space for youth
to be their authentic self while providing a roadmap towards self-sufficiency.
This vehicle presentation would not have been possible without the generosity of
a Kiwanis club of Tampa Bay member who donated
the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier that was presented to Kameron and 10 News who provided
the funding to get this car back on the road.
