St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 2, 2017) The Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater has announced the G3 2018 tour is heading to St. Pete featuring guitar superstar Joe Satriani and fellow six-string legends John Petrucci (of Dream Theater), and Phil Collen (of Def Leppard) Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 7:30 pm.
Since its debut in 1996, Joe Satriani’s G3 tour has featured the world’s greatest guitarists and has become a consistent concert hall sell-out attraction around the globe. Described as a concept much like the Three Tenors (Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras) but one that would pool the unique talents of three guitarists. “Three guitarists – G3,” Joe Satriani explained. He will also be presenting his brand new album, “What Happens Next,” which is set for release on January 12th.
John Petrucci has a long history of guitar wizardry since the Dream Theater founder and guitar virtuoso made his maiden voyage on the tour in 2001, and the 2018 trek will mark his seventh appearance on the bill. The 2018 tour will find Phil Collen making his debut as a G3er. The venerable guitarist joined Def Leppard in 1982 and has been a key part of their worldwide multi-platinum success story.
