Offering Interactive Technology-Related Activities for 4th-12th Graders in
Tampa Bay
TAMPA, FL (September 28, 2017) – Tampa Bay Technology Leadership Association (TBTLA), a leading technology association offering education, networking, and volunteer opportunities to IT technology executives throughout Tampa Bay, today announced it will host more than 100 children at its Getting Everyone to Study Math And Related Technologies (GETSMART) event on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. located at The University of Tampa in John Sykes College of Business.
“We are excited to kick off our second GETSMART event of the year, providing more children in Tampa Bay with the opportunity to learn about technology and how to leverage it for their future success,” said Cindy Brown, Founder and Board Member at Large at TBTLA. “As a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring and educating the leaders of tomorrow, GETSMART enables children throughout Tampa Bay to broaden their knowledge about STEM-related careers. Through education and hands-on activities, students who attend GETSMART will be motivated to learn more about technology.”
Co-hosted by TBTLA and The University of Tampa, the GETSMART event will offer students from grades 4-12 a free opportunity to participate in several fun and interactive technology-related activities, including:
• Breakdown desktop computers, learn about the different parts, and why they are important
• Learn about the technology that drives a drone, how it works, and why drones are important for the future
• Online programming sessions
• A Cryptography session
