31 Endearing Legacies Worth Heeding Today ’ addresses this in Rick Rhodes’ tenth non-fiction work.
This book distills 250 years of American History through 31 endearing and sequential stories of lives who blazed our American Experience. Learning from our nation’s past successes …as well as mistakes, we can better equip ourselves to assess events today. Are there lessons for us today? Most certainly.
Rick Rhodes’ first nine books were boating guides containing much regional American history. Rick has served as an Army and a Sailing Instructor, as well as Peace Corps Volunteer in South America. For much of his adult life, Captain Rick lived aboard small boats. Near his early 20’s, he hiked the Appalachian Trail, and visited all 48 contiguous states, mostly on a motorcycle. Twenty years later, after working for years on the NAFTA, Rick was granted a sabbatical to sail his 33-foot live-aboard boat to Central America. Wherever he’s gone, he’s engrossed himself in local history, and has a passion to share this. At times, it’s been less than delightful. In Ecuador, Rick nearly succumbed to malaria, and injured three limbs.
