Knights of Columbus Council Sponsoring K9s for Cops Golf Scramble on October 21 to Raise Funds for Dogs for Polk Sheriff’s K9 Unit; Golfers and Sponsors Invited to Sign Up Now

Cleveland Heights Golf Club in Lakeland will be the venue for the inaugural K9s for Cops Golf Scramble on Saturday, October 21. The event is being sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 10169, in partnership with K9s for Cops,  to raise funds for purchasing additional highly-trained dogs for the Polk County Sheriff’s K9 Unit. Knights of Columbus Council 10169, which is affiliated with Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland, volunteered to organize and run the tournament as a charitable/community service project.

LAKELAND, FL (Sept. 26, 2017) – The Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Knights of Columbus Council 10169 will sponsor the inaugural K9s for Cops Golf Scramble on 
Saturday, October 21 at Cleveland Heights Golf Course in Lakeland, FL to raise funds for 
purchasing dogs for the Polk County Sheriff’s K9 Unit.
Golfers who register before October 1 can take advantage of discounted 
registration fees of $100 per player and $400 per foursome. After that, registration is $125 for individuals and $500 for a foursome. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, lunch from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, beverages on the course, a goody bag and an awards dinner after the tourney that includes the opportunity to take part in games and contests, as well as silent and live auctions. Registration opens at 11:00 am and the 
tournament begins at 1:00 pm with a shotgun start.
In addition to playing 18 holes of golf, golfers will have the opportunity to win special prizes in closest to the pin and longest drive contests. The prize for making a hole in one is a new car from lead sponsor Regal Lakeland Automotive Group, a Chevrolet, KIA, Honda, Acura and GMC dealership.
All groups and organizations that support the cause as sponsors will receive recognition on the event program and on the website. The three levels of sponsorship and specific benefits they offer are as follows:
Gold Sponsor for $1,000: four players in tournament, four guests for lunch and dinner, sign on hole, recognition on banner and four mulligans;
Silver Sponsor for $500: two players in tournament, two guests for lunch and dinner, sign on hole and recognition on banner;
Hole Sponsor for $100: Sign on hole.
 “This is our first golf tournament and we are grateful to Knights of Columbus
Council 10169 for organizing and running it. We are confident it will be very popular with golfers and sponsors and wish to thank them in advance for supporting the 
Sheriff’s K9 Unit through their participation,” said Michelle Robare, community 
relations manager at Estates at Carpenters and chair of the K9s for Cops committee.

 K9s for Cops is a charitable partnership between the Estates at Carpenters and the Polk County Sheriff’s K9 unit that raises funds to purchase dogs for the unit. K9s for Cops began in 2011 and since then has purchased 10 highly trained dogs which the Sheriff’s Office deploys in tracking and apprehending fugitives, guarding prisoners, searching buildings, detecting drugs and explosives, and in search and rescue missions. The unit currently includes a total of 26 dogs.
