Turning Tampa Bay PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

September 25, 2017 by Post

Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Encourages Tampa Bay to Participate in the 3rd Annual CREW Tampa Bay “CITY IN PINK”

CREW Tampa Bay Will Host a Pink Party to Thank Participants

TAMPA, Fla. (September 25, 2017) – Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Tampa Bay has developed a tradition in the community by lighting the CITY IN PINK for the third consecutive year. The program encourages commercial properties to show their commitment to breast cancer awareness by displaying pink during the month of October.

The CREW Tampa Bay “City In Pink” committee members have utilized their connections within the commercial real estate industry to unify the community as a reminder to stay vigilant in the fight for a cure. “City In Pink” fosters awareness and is a touching tribute to those lives who have been affected by the disease.

CREW Tampa Bay started the initiative as a way to connect the organization with the community at a more impactful level. This event was coined from CREW Charlotte, a city that also participates in “painting” the town pink during the month of October. Since Charlotte has been successful for numerous years, a few CREW Tampa Bay Board members decided to launch “City In Pink” in 2015.

“We are asking building owners, managers and tenants to light up in pink during the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness month. We would like “City In Pink” to be a visual reminder for the community to continue fighting against breast cancer and raise awareness,” says CREW Board Member and City in Pink Committee Chair, Katie Gower of Ed Taylor Construction. “We hope the display of pink during the month of October will encourage women to be proactive in their health, early detection is key.”

The 2017 “City In Pink” committee has eight CREW Tampa Bay members who have utilized their real estate connections to promote participation. The committee collects forms to track participants and at the end of October they host a “Pink Party” to thank those who participated.

Some of the 2017 participants include: St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, USF CAMLS, Cousins Properties, Cushman & Wakefield, Moffitt Cancer Center, Ed Taylor Construction, The Hilton Downtown Tampa, Commercial Florida Management Services, ALOFT Hotel, Freedom Bank, Frontier Communications, Holy Hog BBQ, The Dohring Group, Highwoods Properties, McNatt’s Cleaners and Greiners Fine Men’s Clothing.  The complete list of participants can be found on the CREW Tampa Bay website, www.crewtampabay.org.

CREW Tampa Bay will be hosting the PINK Party with free drinks and hors d’oeuvres to thank all the participants for showing their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Thursday, October 19th in downtown Tampa from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at CI Group, 511 N. Franklin Street. Visit www.crewtampabay.org to register.
