ST. PETERSBURG – Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns, LLP, is pleased to announce that Philip Nodhturft has joined the firm’s Business & Tax Law and Trusts & Estates departments and will practice primarily in the St. Petersburg office.
Mr. Nodhturft began his legal career as an attorney at Hill, Ward & Henderson, P.A., in Tampa, practicing in the areas of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, construction law, and complex commercial litigation. He then furthered his business law background by serving as a federal judicial law clerk at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida for over five years, during which time he clerked for all of the current sitting judges of the Tampa and Ft. Myers Divisions.
Mr. Nodhturft holds three degrees which include: Dartmouth College, A.B. cum laude, 2005; University of Florida, J. D., magna cum laude, 2008 and University of Florida, LL.M. in Taxation, 2017. During law school, Mr. Nodhturft was a member and editor of the Florida Law Review and upon graduation was admitted to the Order of the Coif, an honor reserved for those graduating in the top 10% of their class. Mr. Nodhturft also excelled in the Graduate Tax Program, graduating at the top of his class and earning book awards as the top student in his coursework covering the Taxation of Gratuitous Transfers and Civil Tax Procedure.
Admitted to The Florida Bar in 2008, he is a member of the Tax Law section of The Florida Bar.
Mr. Nodhturft advises business owners and other entrepreneurs, as well as individuals and families, in connection with their tax, estate planning, and asset protection needs. Phil’s practice includes formulating and updating estate plans and business succession plans, as well as drafting the various legal documents necessary to implement those plans.
