myMatrixx, a Tampa-based workers’ compensation pharmacy benefit management (PBM) firm, was recently purchased by Express Scripts, #22 on the Fortune 500 list.
Express Scripts, headquartered in St. Louis, is the nation’s largest PBM and processes more than 1 billion prescriptions annually for health plans, government agencies, and workers’ compensation claims. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Express Scripts, myMatrixx will retain its company name and will manage the combined workers’ compensation business. Artemis Emslie, myMatrixx CEO, will lead the organization.
“myMatrixx will continue to keep our clients and their injured workers at the center of every decision we make. The combined strengths of our teams and strong name recognition of both organizations will allow us to differentiate ourselves through unmatched clinical expertise, innovative technologies and actionable data analytics,” said Emslie.
Through steady organic growth, myMatrixx has emerged as a dominant player in the niche workers’ compensation PBM market, processing 3.2 million prescriptions per year. The home office in Tampa employs more than half of the company’s 250 employees and is well-positioned for continued growth.
