Tampa, Sept. 1, 2017 – More than 18,000 REALTORS® from six associations in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties are joining forces to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey through the Totes for Hope initiative.
The six associations in the tri-county area are collectively known as Florida REALTORS® District 6 which includes the Greater Tampa REALTORS® (GTR). District 6 is coordinating a donation drive seeking travel-size toiletries and other items that will be sent in gallon-size zip top bags or “totes” to displaced residents in Texas. Totes for Hope is part of a larger statewide effort initiated by Florida REALTORS®, the state association for REALTORS® in Florida. Donated items will also be sent to residents of southwest Florida in areas that have experienced major flooding.
“From the bottom of our hearts, we want them to know that we are with them and we hope that they will come out of this stronger and better than before,” said Barbara S. Jordan, Florida REALTORS® District 6 vice president.
Those interested in donating to the Totes for Hope initiative can drop off travel-size toiletry items at GTR offices at 2918 W Kennedy Blvd in Tampa by Tuesday, Sept. 5.
REALTOR® members and other volunteers will be onsite at GTR on Sept. 5 to sort and stuff at least 700 bags.
