SARASOTA, Fla. — David Wyant, a business law attorney with the full-service business law firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, has been selected by the World Rowing Federation, also known as FISA, to be an announcer for the 2017 World Rowing Championships, which will take place at Nathan Benderson Park from Sept. 23 – Oct. 1.
For the first time in over 20 years, the World Rowing Championships will return to the U.S. During the regatta, elite rowers from around the world, totaling more than 70 countries and nearly 2,000 participants, will contend for the championships.
As an announcer, Wyant will be driven alongside the races on Nathan Benderson Park’s one-of-a-kind wave attenuator, announcing as each race progresses.
“It’s a huge thrill for me that my hometown is hosting the first World Rowing Championships in the U.S. in 23 years,” said Wyant. “Rowing has come a long way in this area. Announcing these races is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and will be one of the highlights of my life.”

Now, he serves as the Sarasota Crew coxswain coach and has been announcing regattas at Nathan Benderson Park for more than five years.
