
LAKELAND, Fla., August 29, 2017- Two awards were presented during the Florida Public Relations Association’s Dick Pope/ Polk County chapter meeting on August 16, 2017. The awards recognized outstanding chapter members. A summary of achievements and awards were presented by past chapter President, Bob Gernert, APR, CPRC and chapter President Jennifer Olivier, APR.
Colonel John Dillin, APR, CPRC Professional of the Year Award
Amy Wiggins, Executive Director of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, was selected as the recipient of the Professional of the Year Award. The award honors the spirit and dedication of FPRA’s first President and founder, Lt. Col. John Dillin, and his lifetime of service to and support of this Association. Wiggins was honored for her outstanding contribution to the Association and the field of public relations. She has made outstanding and long-lasting contribution to FPRA and to the public relations profession in ways other than as an FPRA officer.
Bob Gernert, APR, CPRC Member of the Year Award
Marybeth Soderstrom, Community Engagement Manager for the Central Florida Regional Planning Council received the Member of the Year Award for her significant contribution to the chapter through outstanding leadership, demonstrated enthusiasm, extraordinary involvement and loyal support.
The Dick Pope/ Polk County Chapter of FPRA provides professional development, accreditation and certification, leadership opportunities, recognition, networking, and funding of educational and professional development programs for members. For information on the state organization, visit fpra.org.
