Conservation Foundation announces a new program on Sunday, September 24, at 2:00 pm with Eva Worden, Ph.D., of Worden Farm. Expand your knowledge of local, organic farming and add to your culinary repertoire with a fun demonstration of organic vegetable preparation. As consumers of all ages seek foods that support health and wellness, the demand for organic food is growing faster than domestic supply. The program will be held upstairs in the Welcome Center at Bay Preserve, 400 Palmetto Avenue in Osprey. For more information and to register, visit www.conservationfoundation.com/events or call (941) 918-2100. Seating is limited.
Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast also announces its launch of a new community partnership with Worden Farm. Conservation Foundation’s headquarters at Bay Preserve is a new distribution site for Worden Farm’s Organic Veggie Boxes, delivered weekly from December to April. Enjoy the convenience of picking up your personal box of fresh-from-the-field vegetables at Bay Preserve, a private park open to the public, on the shores of Little Sarasota Bay in Osprey. Worden Farm is an 85-acre certified organic family farm, co-founded by Eva Worden and husband Chris Worden, Ph.D. Since 2003, the Wordens have grown fresh, organic produce for the local Southwest Florida community and distributed it through farmers markets and a community supported agriculture (CSA) farm membership program. The Wordens have taught thousands of people about organic food and agriculture through educational videos, television shows, workshops, farm tours, university courses, conferences, consulting and an intensive farm apprenticeship program. They are recipients of the Florida Innovative Farmer Award, and have been recognized as Organic Farmer Experts by the Organic Trade Association and the United States Department of Agriculture.
