SPEAKERS
A Former Skinhead Speaks Out Against Hatred
Thurs., September 7, 7 p.m., McArthur Gymnasium
Author Frank Meeink’s violent childhood in South Philadelphia primed him to hate. He was recruited to be a skinhead at 13. By 18, he was roaming the country as a skinhead leader and neo-Nazi recruiter. He had his own cable-access TV show, The Reich. While serving time for a violent crime, Frank began to question his hatred, thanks in large part to his African-American teammates in a prison football league. Shortly after being paroled, Frank defected from the white supremacy movement. He will share his journey from being a violent white-power skinhead to speaking out for tolerance, diversity and mutual understanding in all aspects of society.
