Lakeland, FL – The Watson Clinic Breast Health Services division has been awarded a full 3-year re-accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). This achievement testifies to the superior breast cancer evaluation and management services offered at Watson Clinic.
“All of us at Watson Clinic are truly honored to be one of only 24 facilities in the state of Florida to receive this recognition from the NAPBC,” says Elisabeth L. Dupont, MD, a board-certified breast surgeon at the Watson Clinic Women’s Center and the Medical Director of Breast Health Services at Watson Clinic.
Watson Clinic’s Breast Health Services division encompasses multiple locations including the Women’s Center, the Main Clinic, and the Cancer & Research Center, state-of-the-art 3D mammogram technology, and a range of treatment options including breast surgery, plastic & reconstructive surgery, radiation therapies and much more.
A national multidisciplinary group compromised of medical professionals dedicated to improving the quality of breast cancer care and treatment outcomes, the NAPBC implements a rigorous evaluation process for facilities seeking accreditation. During this evaluation, they assess compliance with 28 strict standards, including team leadership, breast disease treatment and management, research efforts, community outreach, ongoing education and training opportunities for medical staff, and the in-house implementation of quality improvement measures. The Clinic’s Breast Health Services division achieved full compliance in all evaluation categories with no deficiencies.
Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center ensures that a patient will have access to comprehensive care, including a full range of highly advanced services, information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options, and quality care close to home.
The surveyor was particularly impressed with the interdisciplinary approach to breast disease at Watson Clinic.
“Patients benefit from the expertise and input of our entire team,” Dr. Dupont explains. “We meet on a weekly basis to carefully consider each new patient’s course of treatment, and offer suggestions that ensure they receive the best possible care.”
