The Spice & Tea Exchange® of John’s Pass Celebrates 10th Anniversary Year with September 27th Open House

August 24, 2017 by Post

MADEIRA BEACH, Florida, August 24, 2017 – Proprietor Lisa Coleman and Marketing Manager Brian Dean invite the Tampa Bay community to the 10th Anniversary Open House of The Spice & Tea Exchange® (TSTE®) of John’s Pass on Wednesday, Sept. 27th, co-sponsored by the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce. The Open House is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and kicks off a five-day Anniversary Celebration through Sunday, October 1st.

The quaint John’s Pass shop opened on December 11, 2007, offering spices and herbs from around the world, hand-mixed blends made in-house daily, unique sea salts, exotic teas, organic extra-virgin olive oil, naturally infused sugars, and gourmet gifts and accessories.

A Michigan native, Lisa moved to St. Petersburg in 1984 and was a legal assistant for 25 years. When the economy turned, she decided to reinvent her career. She recalls that on a 2007 trip to St. Augustine with sister, Amy Freeman, “We happened into the original Old Florida Spice Traders shop and were transfixed. Such gloriously colorful spices, herbs, teas and handmade spice blends – a treasure trove of flavor! One thing led to another and Amy bought in as a managing partner and I bought the first off-site franchise store. Amy is now the company CEO and there are currently 57 TSTE® shops nationwide.

“The highlight of my 18th century trading post-style shop is that we make our own spice blends fresh in-house; over 80 rubs and seasonings for steak, chicken, fish, veggies, curries, pasta … you name it. We also carry over 40 exotic loose teas, as well as naturally flavored sugars and a wide variety of sea salts, peppers, and spices and herbs from around the globe. Our company’s mission is ‘Creating and sharing the experience of a more flavorful life’, and we always invite our guests to ‘Open the jars and smell’.”

Among several new and exciting TSTE® offerings is a ‘Chef to Table’ line of seasoning kits. Beautifully packaged, each kit has a colorful recipe card, grocery list, and the exact amount of seasonings needed for a wide variety of appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts and delectable drinks.Corporate customized gifting options for local companies, wedding planners, realtors, etc., include an amazing line of spice and tea gifts for any size budget; gorgeous gourmet crates for any and all gift-giving needs; top of the line kitchen accessories, including mortar and pestle sets; salt and pepper grinders; tea kettles, pots, cups and infusers; olive oil jars; and much more.

Lisa’s “professional spice team” in John’s Pass include Marketing Manager Brian Dean; new store Manager Alexis Sutton – leading the shop to month over month record sales; new Assistant Manager Julianne Grande; Spice Girls/Sales Assistants Melissa Smith, Lauren Sutton and Patti Wright; and her daughter and co-owner Lucy Coleman, a 2017 USFSP graduate with a degree in Entrepreneurship. They invite everyone to head down to Madeira Beach and “Find Your Way to Flavor® !
