Watson Clinic Foundation Announces Breast Cancer & Women’s Health Event

Lakeland, FL – The Watson Clinic Foundation is pleased to announce an upcoming event devoted to breast cancer education and community empowerment. The Healthy in Pink Social will bring together community partners, local organizations and medical experts to share valuable insights on breast cancer and a variety of related health concerns.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” says Watson Clinic Foundation Program Coordinator Peggy Garrett. “This unique event provides us with an opportunity to spread awareness of the disease, and its relationship to other aspects of wellness such as heart health, physical fitness and other cancers. “

A health fair opens the event at 1:30 pm, and will spotlight programs like the Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida, the Ovarian Cancer Support Group of Polk County, the Watson Clinic Foundation Arts in Medicine program, the Young Survival Coalition and more.

The centerpiece of the event is a guest panel hosted by 97 Country host Jeni Taylorwhich features insights from Gynecologic Oncologist Dr. Richard Cardosi, Breast SurgeonDr. Elisabeth Dupont, Breast-Specific Radiologist Dr. Rachel Burke, Cardiologist Dr. Jorge Gonzalez and cycling ambassador/exercise specialist Christy Markel.

Desserts and refreshments will be served during the event.
