Regional Managing Partner Steve Bernstein also named a “Lawyer of the Year”
TAMPA (August 15, 2017) – Fisher Phillips announced today that three partners in the Tampa office have been selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2018®. Steve Bernstein, Theresa Gallion and Christine Howard have been recognized for their work in labor and employment law.
Additionally, Bernstein, regional managing partner in the Tampa office, has been named Best Lawyers’ 2018 “Lawyer of the Year” for Labor and Employment Litigation in the Tampa region. Only one lawyer in each practice area and community is honored as “Lawyer of the Year.”
Bernstein has also been recognized in the Labor Law Management and Employment Law Management categories. He has maintained a traditional labor practice for 27 years, representing employers throughout the United States in both state and federal courts. He advises clients on union-related matters and compliance with various wage and hour regulations, including the National Labor Relations Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. He also devotes a significant portion of his practice to the implementation of preventive employee relations programs that include supervisory training and effective human resources policies and practices. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers since 2011.
Gallion, a founding partner in the firm’s Tampa office, has been recognized in the Labor and Employment Litigation and Employment Law Management categories. Gallion has been practicing labor and employment law for 35 years, and this is the tenth consecutive year she has been honored by Best Lawyers. She specializes in complex employment litigation and collective actions, representing clients in a wide variety of industries, including hospitality, healthcare, education, retail and telecommunications. One of the firm’s most experienced trial lawyers, has successfully tried more than 40 jury trials in employment cases.
Howard, a partner in the Tampa and Atlanta offices, was recognized for her work in the Employment Law Management category. She has more than 25 years of experience in labor and employment law, focusing on defending employment discrimination, harassment, leave and disability, and wage and hour complaints. In the last decade, she has defended numerous collective action cases involving the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) and has successfully defeated class certification in practically every instance. In addition to her litigation work, Howard conducts workplace investigations, compliance audits and management training. This is the fourth consecutive year that she has been listed in Best Lawyers.
Several attorneys in the firm’s other Florida offices, in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, were also selected for inclusion in this year’s Best Lawyers.
The Fort Lauderdale attorneys are Suzanne K. Bogdan, David A. Buchsbaum, James C. Polkinghorn, Christopher D. Robinson, Cathy M. Stutin, and Charles S. Caulkins. Caulkins was named “Lawyer of the Year” for Labor Law Management in the Fort Lauderdale region.
The Orlando based attorneys are Benton N. Wood and Jeffrey E. Mandel. Mandel was named “Lawyer of the Year” for Labor and Employment Litigation in the Orlando region.
