St. Petersburg, Fla. (August 16, 2017) – Local youth and their families, youth leaders, mentors and role models are invited to the SpringZone-St. Petersburg Community Solutions and Youth Empowerment Expo at the Mahaffey Theater, 400 First Street South, on Saturday, August 19, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Geared toward middle and high school students, the Youth Empowerment Expo will feature more than a dozen of Pinellas County’s solution-based youth programs and a family-focused panel dialogue with city of St. Petersburg representatives, hometown celebrity Marcus Dixon, National Spiritual Coordinator Jared Williams, and Hip-Hop Icon and Author Darryl “DMC” McDaniels.
Admission is free, but a ticket is required. To reserve your ticket, send an email tospringzonestpete@gmail.com or sign-up at one of the following locations:
-Campbell Park Recreation Center, 601 14th St. S. St. Petersburg, FL 33705;
-Thomas “Jet” Jackson Rec Center (Wildwood Park/Jordan Park area), 1000 28th St. S. St. Petersburg, FL 33712; or
-Childs Park Rec Center, 4301 13th Ave. S., St Petersburg, FL 33711
For those who will need transportation on August 19, free transportation has been arranged round trip from these three Recreation Center locations.
Doors open at the Mahaffey Theater at 5 p.m. The Expo begins with registration and networking from 5:30 to 6 p.m. The event, from 6 to 9 p.m., also features separate youth-only and parents-only panel discussions and a main panel session with parents, youth, and city and county leaders. The Expo wraps up with a Youth Mentoring Program Fair.
Parking at The Mahaffey Theater is free for this event. Concessions will be for sale on site.
