TAMPA, FL – Outreach Assisting Students In Schools (OASIS) will recognize its 16th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a fun community celebration for all and an opportunity for the public to help local children in need.
In Hillsborough County Public Schools, 61 percent of students live in poverty. Our school district is the seventh largest in the country, educating approximately 215,000 students in 273 schools. The mission of OASIS is to remove barriers to education by providing students with clean clothes and other basic necessities.
The OASIS 16th Birthday Celebration will include carnival-type games and activities geared toward school age children, including prizes and cupcakes. The OASIS Board of Directors and Executive Director Ginger Bean are proud to host this event.
“As the new school year has begun, we are excited to help students in all grades feel confident and ready for a successful school year,” Bean said.
The 16th birthday celebration will take place at the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market on the lawn of Hillsborough High School at 5000 N. Central Avenue in Tampa. In addition to youth size school clothing donations, OASIS requests that participants bring birthday gifts of Target or Wal-Mart gift cards.

OASIS was founded in 2001 by a group of local mothers who found that many school children lacked basic clothing and hygiene necessities. OASIS is a volunteer driven organization dedicated to helping underprivileged students. Students in need are served through each school’s social worker.
