Dunedin’s Purple Heart Park Dedication Anniversary

August 11, 2017 by Post

Rachel with Scott Daniels at the Dunedin Purple Heart Park Memorial in downtown Dunedin on Monday, August 7th.

August 7th was the 10th Anniversary of Dunedin’s Purple Heart Park dedication.

Scott volunteered to be on the original planning committee and has participated every
year since 2007.  He wanted to honor his dad, Bob Daniels, who received his Purple
Heart recognition for his service in World War II.  This annual, special ceremony pays
tribute to all veterans with focus on Purple Heart recipients who, by virtue of their
bravery and sacrifice, have received this honorable recognition.  Local, elected officials,
military organization leadership, families and friends of Purple Heart recipients were
inspired by the memorable program.  “Commemorative bricks” are available to be
sponsored by friends and family of Purple Heart recipients (through the City of Dunedin).
Scott and Marcy have dedicated a brick at the memorial park in honor of Scott’s father.
