The newly launched Recovery Guidance is the only comprehensive listing site that provides information on the full spectrum of care needed for successful long-term recovery from addiction.
(Sarasota, FL) To address the nationwide addiction epidemic, Recovery Guidance, a new company headquartered in Sarasota, recently launched a state-of-the-art online platform that offers access to a broad range of mental health providers. The interactive site aggregates profiles and unbiased reviews of recovery centers, hospital-based programs, detox facilities, and physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists specializing in addiction and mental healthcare. As a result, millions of people, both family members and those suffering from substance use disorder, can now find the full range of care available anywhere in the United States. Recovery Guidance is the only comprehensive, user-friendly, Google map-assisted addiction and mental healthcare listing website that provides information on the full spectrum of care needed for successful long-term recovery.
The new company is the brainchild of Sarasota resident Leslie Glass, founder of the nonprofit organization Reach Out Recovery, the number one Google-ranked recovery website. Glass, a journalist, best-selling author of 15 novels, and director/producer of two documentaries, is also the recipient of the 2016 American Society of Addiction Medicine’s Media Award for directing and producing “the Secret World of Recovery.”
Glass explains that Recovery Guidance is a separate, for-profit business offering a vastly different user experience. “Recovery Guidance is a solutions website designed for hundreds of thousands of people who daily search the internet for mental health and addiction professional services and want immediate help,” she says.
What compelled Glass and her team to launch this new platform?
“We saw a need for an unbiased site that follows the model of Yelp, Healthgrades and Angie’s List,” she says. “Recovering addicts and mental health consumers had nothing like that up until this. There were no complete provider listings, no provider profiles, and certainly no reviews from people who used their services.”
Glass adds that Recovery Guidance offers mental healthcare providers the opportunity to showcase their businesses and organizations on the site by claiming their listing. “It also offers crowed-sourced reviews of providers—just as we have come to expect with all other products and services.”
Recovery Guidance’s managing members team features a notable group of professionals, including Dr. Thomas McLellan, former Deputy Director of the US Office of National Drug Control Policy and principal author of President Obama’s National Drug Control Strategy. “In my 40 years as a researcher and policymaker in the addiction field, I have never been more excited about the potential for improving quality and outcomes than I am about the launch of Recovery Guidance,” says McLellan. “I am proud to be a close collaborator in the work Recovery Guidance is doing for patients, families and the public at large.”
The Recovery Guidance site is free to the public. It is subscription-based for providers who pay minimal annual fee to post full profiles. According to Glass, the site currently has 38,000 providers—a number that is growing every day. Any provider in the mental healthcare field can apply for a listing, and credentials are verified by the site before profiles are published.
Glass says there’s a desperate need for a platform like Recovery Guidance.
“Our nation is battling an opioid and addiction epidemic,” says Glass. “The time for action is now.”
