SARASOTA, Fla. (Aug 01, 2017) – USF Sarasota-Manatee congratulates the Manatee-Sarasota chapter of the USF Alumni Association after winning the association’s Most Improved Group Award, a national honor.
“We are thrilled to have received acknowledgement for the efforts we’ve made to strengthen USF’s Manatee-Sarasota Alumni chapter,” said Courtney Hawk, the chapter’s communications chairperson and community leadership chairperson. “This was a year of growth for our chapter and we are grateful for the support of the rest of the alumni association.” The USF Alumni Association supports nearly 30 alumni chapters and societies nationwide. All alumni groups are able to apply for the association’s awards based on previous-year activities and programs. Award winners were named two weeks ago. Among the events the Manatee-Sarasota chapter organized during the past year was the Bulls, Bands & BBQ picnic at the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus, featuring live country music, as well as park cleanups, football watch parties, fundraisers and other events. “Our chapter has made many changes this year. New leadership has given us the opportunity to offer our fellow alumni a variety of different events,” Hawk said. “Our board has been incredibly dedicated to making sure that our alumni are connected to the entire USF community.” All USF alumni chapters and societies are part of the USF Alumni Association. The Manatee-Sarasota chapter serves all USF System alumni living in the two counties. That includes more than 17,000 alumni. Any alumni living in these areas are welcome to participate in chapter activities. For more information, visit www.usfalumni.org. ### |
