IN HER OWN WORDS:
“Reliable wheels changed my life”

“Wheels of Success has made a great impact on my life and I would like to thank them as well as the donors of the car that has changed my children’s and my life in so many ways. We were provided with a gate way to success and health. This vehicle has provided me with a way of not worrying about how I would have to continually have to take time off from work to take two to three buses to get to a doctor’s appointment.

About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with Gastroparesia an effect of bring a type one diabetic. These illnesses have caused me to be in and out of the hospital numerous of times, visits to specialist. Doctors, and counselors put a strain on me physically and financially and risk of losing my job due to all the time I would have to take off trying to make every appointment I could.

Being a single mother of 2 teenaged girls with no other income was becoming very over whelming having to make sure we could make it to places when we needed, just a simple thing as going to the grocery store was straining. There were times that I thought I was going to lose my job because

it was a all day process to take 2 sometimes 3 buses to get to a doctor’s appointment.

When I got the call from Wheels of Success it was life changing my children and I now have the means and way of getting to appointments without having to worry about taking so much time off from work, my health has improved due to being able to make appointments and my children have been able to join activities and get jobs of their own.
Without the help from Wheels of success and the donors I don’t think we would be in the place we are today so I would like to thank you and all your help and kindness and for this program that not only help me succeed but helping my family become more independent and saving my health. I am truly thankful for being a part of this program and appreciate the car so much.”

Thank you, Donna

ABOUT KAMERON
“What’s important to know about Kameron is that he isn’t a victim of circumstance. He is a shining example of how you can thrive in the face of adversity when appropriate supports are in place.
Kameron, like other youth, ended up in the Foster Care system after years of housing instability. With determination and drive, he purposefully
set out to complete high school, with college to follow. Due to the location of his high school relative to placement, he was dependent on public transportation. During his Junior and Senior year, he woke at 5 am each day to take two buses and arrive at school on-time.

For Kameron, while aware of his past, his focus is on the road ahead. This is where “Wheels of Success” came in. Their program, will provide Kameron with the reliable “wheels” necessary to start college this fall & continue his journey of positivity, hope, and courage in the face of adversity.”

Kameron was referred to us by Family Resources’ “SafePlace2Btoo- LGBTQ Program”, which provides an affirming & safe space for youth to be their authentic self while providing a roadmap towards self-sufficiency.

Pay it Forward Philosophy
Wheels of Success operates with a pay-it-forward philosophy. Clients receiving a vehicle “buy” it from the program by making small monthly payments for 1 year. They also donate three hours of service monthly to the program. These fees help Wheels of Success assist additional clients and allow the recipients to pay-it-forward.

WAITING ON WHEELS

Shaka, an applicant “Waiting for Wheels”, is a single mother of 5 children and in desperate need of a vehicle. Two of her children have mental disabilities that require many medical and therapeutic appointments. She struggles daily to get to work and take her children to their necessary appointments. Through no fault of her own, Shaka lost her transportation when she was in a severe auto accident which totaled her vehicle. Her injuries from the accident healed slowly, but she still managed to continue working full time.

A “New to Her” vehicle will help Shaka be able to work more hours earning more money, with the potential of receiving a promotion. Her “Keys to Success” will help her maintain her independence; provide better support and a brighter future for her 5 children. With a “New to Her” vehicle from Wheels of Success, Shaka will also be able to take her children to appointments without the disruption and hours of time the 6 different buses she currently has to take causes.

This hard working mother of 5 is patiently “Waiting for Wheels” while working hard towards a better future for her and her children. Let’s work together to get Shaka on the “Road to Success” with a
“New to Her” vehicle as soon as possible.
