TAMPA, FL – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that M. John Burgess has joined the Tampa office as a partner in the Employee Compensation and Benefits and Taxation practice groups.
Before joining Shumaker, John spent over 10 years practicing in the D.C. area assisting his clients with all types of employee benefit plans, including tax-qualified pension and 401(k) plans, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), executive compensation arrangements, and health and welfare plans. Prior to attending law school, John was as an auditor for a large accounting firm, and he remains licensed as a certified public accountant.
John received his LL.M. in Taxation from Case Western Reserve University College of Law, his J.D., magna cum laude, from Cleveland State University and his B.B.A., cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati.
