Students of the Pasco-Hernando State College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business organization recently competed in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) PBL National Leadership Competition conference held in Anaheim, California in June. PHSC student John Vann placed third in the Future Business Executive category of the national competition. Other students who participated in the competition include: Leslie Barnwelland Sidney Onstad, fourth in the Hospitality Management Team category; Casey Coxplaced sixth in Organizational Behavior & Leadership; Emily Brock and Simona Rivero,ninth in Small Business Management Plan Team and Michael Bradley II, tenth in the Public Speaking category.
The PBL National Awards Program recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. At the State Leadership Conference, students compete in events testing business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are eligible to compete at the annual National Leadership Conference.
“Students competing at nationals represent the top one percent of Phi Beta Lambda. We’re proud of our students and their accomplishments in this national competition,” said Katrina Bivona, information technology instructor and Phi Beta Lambda advisor.
Individuals, state teams, and local chapters were encouraged to compete in any of the more than 50 different events representing a wide range of activities and the business and leadership development focus of FBLA-PBL. The winners of these highly competitive and prestigious awards were selected from among FBLA-PBL’s membership of 250,000 students and advisors.
