Shaina Bent and Aby Paz promoted to directors as the Free Clinic grows

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (July 20, 2017) ¬– The St. Petersburg Free Clinic has promoted Shaina Bent and Aby Paz to leadership positions to support its expanding food programs, which includes the recent opening of the new 14,000-square-foot Jared S. Hechtkopf Community Food Bank.

In addition to the new food bank, the Free Clinic’s other food programs, including Pack-a-Sack and Hearty Homes, have also grown to help more people in mid- and south Pinellas County. The Free Clinic created a new director of food programs position to oversee these growing food programs and promoted Shaina Bent to serve in the role. She will continue her role as director of the We Help Services, which provides emergency food and financial assistance, personal hygiene items and helps clients obtain proper identification, bus passes, and other information.

Aby Paz has been promoted to food bank supervisor of the Jared S. Hechtkopf Community Food Bank. He will be responsible for food collection, storage and distribution as the new food bank collects 4 million pounds of food a year and distributes to 60 local partner agencies. Paz joined the Free Clinic in March 2011 and was most recently its warehouse supervisor.

“Aby and Shaina have proven themselves as dedicated employees who are committed to helping our neighbors in need. We are thrilled to promote them to their new leadership roles,” said Beth Houghton, executive director of the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. “Their valuable skills and expertise are vital to expanding our food programs as we continue to serve Pinellas County as the largest emergency food distributor.”
