Tampa, FL (July 19, 2017) – Dr. Lucila Ramiro, an internal medicine physician at the TGH Family Care Center Kennedy since 1995, was recently appointed vice president of the Tampa General Medical Group (TGMG).
TGMG is an affiliate of Tampa General Hospital. TGMG physicians provide care at locations in Hillsborough and Pasco counties.
Dr. Ramiro has served as TGMG’s primary care program director since 2012. In her new role she oversees TGMG’s two specialty offices, 14 primary care locations, and 101 primary care providers, specialists and advanced practice providers. She also devotes one day a week to treating her established patients at the Kennedy location.
Dr. Ramiro has had a key role in the expansion of TGMG’s primary care offices throughout Tampa Bay. The newest office opened at the TGH Brandon Healthplex earlier this year.
Dr. Ramiro joined TGH in 1994 after completing her internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, is board certified in internal medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Florida and continues to teach medical residents.
“Our plan is to maximize the capacity of the existing clinics and to open more locations in southern Hillsborough County,” said Dr. Ramiro.
“What I’m proud of is we keep growing and adding providers. We’re taking more patients, and yet we’re maintaining the quality of care we want to provide to our patients. That’s crucial.”
