July 27 program to provide tips for employers to prevent bullying, harassment and assault
TAMPA (July 14, 2017) – Nearly 2 million American workers report having been victims of workplace violence each year, according to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. In some cases of workplace violence, the employer can be held liable for the employee’s negative actions.
In addition, workplace violence is estimated to cost U.S. employers billions of dollars a year, between legal fees, awards from lawsuits, and poor employee morale.
Attorneys with the Tampa office of Fisher Phillips will provide guidance to help Tampa Bay area employers minimize workplace violence and its consequences at the law firm’s upcoming breakfast briefing program. Attorneys will share preventative measures that employers can take to reduce workplace violence, along with information on employer liability.
During the session, “Workplace Violence: Do You Know What Your Legal Liability Is As An Employer?” employers and HR professionals will learn preventative measures intended to minimize the risk of bullying, harassment, assaults and other forms of workplace violence. The session will also cover theories of legal liability used against employers, and how to address workplace violence in employee handbooks and training material.
The program will be held Thursday, July 27, at the Bank of America Plaza, 101 E. Kennedy Blvd., Suite 890, in Tampa. Breakfast and networking begins at 7:30 a.m. and the presentation runs from 8 to 9 a.m.
Fisher Phillips, a leading labor and employment law firm, hosts quarterly breakfast briefing programs, and each program offers insight on a different legal issue relevant to employers and human resources professionals.
