Hudson, Florida (July 11, 2017) – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point has recently recognized two nurses for excellence in nursing. The Excellence in Nursing awards were given at RMCBP’s HCA Awards of Distinction celebration. The Excellence in Nursing Awards were established by HCA to honor outstanding nurses who demonstrate excellence and professional mentoring and in compassionate care. The awards honor exceptional individuals whose work and lives reflect the patient-centered and humanitarian values upon which HCA was founded.
The Excellence in Nursing Award for compassionate care goes to a nurse who demonstrates exceptional nursing knowledge and expert skills and consistently applies both with compassion and integrity, so that the quality of the care experience and the care outcomes are improved for patients in any clinical setting or nursing specialty. The Professional Mentoring Award goes to a nurse who advances nursing practice in any clinical setting or nursing specialty by guiding or supporting career development for individuals or groups of nurses or by advancing evidence-based nursing knowledge. Our nursing winners receive $250 each. Each winner also receives a plaque, a front row parking spot or pass to the physicians’ parking lot for one full year, a beautiful large dish garden, and their picture on display in the front entrance of the hospital.
This year’s Excellence in Nursing Award winner in the compassionate care category is Andrea Ioviero. The HCA Excellence in Nursing Award in the professional mentoring category was presented to Melissa Reed. In presenting the awards, Chief Nursing Officer Lori Spight, “HCA recognizes the intrinsic value of nursing practice in accomplishing our mission of providing the highest quality care to the patients and communities we serve.” The HCA Excellence in Nursing Awards are the newest addition to the family of HCA Awards of Distinction, which include the Frist Humanitarian Award and the Innovators Award.
