Patel Conservatory provides free arts enrichment to community

Tampa, Fla. – Forty five local organizations have been selected by the Straz Center’s Patel Conservatory for its Arts Education School and Community Partnerships Program for the 2017-18 academic year.

 

Each year, the Patel Conservatory works with under-served area schools, agencies and community organizations by providing high-quality individualized performing arts programming and/or tickets to shows at the Straz.

 

Through applications and interviews with board members, more organizations than ever before, will be receiving the services. The following organizations were selected:

 

Advanced partners: Patricia J. Sullivan Elementary School, Metropolitan Ministries, Inc., Academy Prep of Tampa Bay, St. Peter Claver Catholic School, St. Joseph Catholic School, MacDill Airforce Base Youth Programs and Pepin Academy.

Intermediate Partners: Firehouse Cultural Center, Inc., Florida Institute for Community Studies, RCMA Wimauma/Leadership Academy, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, Dunbar Elementary School, B.C. Graham Elementary School, Seminole High School, Sulphur Springs YMCA, Pyramid. Inc., Evolution Institute Inc., MacDonald Training Center and Burnett Middle School

 

General partners: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Inc., Rampello Downtown Partnership School, Tampa Housing Authority, First Baptist Church of College Hill, Brandon High School, Learning Gate Community School, Young Middle School, Centre for Girls, Ippolito Elementary School, Egypt Lake Elementary School

Affiliate partners: Moffitt Cancer Center – Moffitt Healthy KIDZ Program, Positive Spin, Inc., Hillsborough County Department of Family and Aging, University Area Community Development Corporation (University Area CDC), Weinberg Village Assisted Living, Hillel Academy, Pasco County School District and Hillsborough County Public Schools – Magnet Office.

 

Professional Learning Partners: Howard W. Blake High School, Progress Village Middle Magnet School, Orange Grove Middle Magnet School, Muller Magnet Elementary School, Philip Shore Magnet Elementary School, Gibbs PCCA High School, Walton Academy for the Performing Arts Charter School and             Manatee School for the Arts.

 

The Arts Education School and Community Partnerships Program is sponsored by the Couch Family Foundation, Bloomin’ Brands, The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay South Shore Council, MetLife Foundation, Cy and Joanne Spurlino, Tampa Bay Times Fund, Triad Foundation, T. Rowe Price Foundation and JS Turner Family Foundation.

The accredited Patel Conservatory offers classes in dance, music and theater for students of all ages and experience levels. Each year, the Patel Conservatory and the Straz Center’s arts education programs enrich the lives of more than 70,000 students in our classrooms, on our stages and through the community.
