ST. PETERSBURG, FL (June 28, 2017) –
On June 28, Mayor Rick Kriseman, Deputy Mayor Dr. Kanika Tomalin, and City of St. Petersburg leaders, citizens, and members of the Pier design team gathered on the Pier Approach to break ground on the new St. Pete Pier. Approximately 200 people gathered to be part of this historic event.
Said Mayor Kriseman: “Adding to one of our nation’s largest publicly owned waterfront park systems is a tribute to our founders and a gift to our future. I was pleased to stand with so many of our citizens and community leaders to break ground on the new St. Petersburg Pier.”
While listening to speakers’ remarks about the new Pier, attendees viewed displays of images of the new Pier and lifestyle images indicating what is to come. The new St. Pete Pier will have activities for every family member to enjoy including waterfront views, fishing, education center, nature observation, play areas, dining and public art.
