Colorful Street Art Celebration Returns with New Artists and Events
St. Petersburg, FL — The SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival returns for its third year October 5 – 14, 2017, showcasing vibrant events and inspiring murals by artists from around the world.
New art by international, national, and local artists will add to the walls of a growing outdoor gallery in downtown St. Petersburg and surrounding art districts.
The confirmed 2017 SHINE roster includes diversely talented artists such as Hueman (Los Angeles, CA), Waone (Ukraine), Alex Yanes (Miami, FL), and others to be announced. In addition, applications soon open for the 2017 SHINE Open Call Wall, designed for local artists only.
Led by local artists and community members, SHINE illuminates the power of art in public spaces by revitalizing areas, inspiring dialogue, and uniting communities. The festival has delivered 38 new murals to St. Petersburg streets since its inception in 2015.
SHINE continues to inspire in 2017, highlighting the intensely creative spirit of this City of the Arts.
“Murals are reflective of a city that takes pride in its community,” said SHINE Director and Co-Curator Leon Bedore (known as Tes One). “I think the level of art and impact of murals in St. Pete is beginning to align. There is a deeper appreciation for the work.”
Group gallery exhibitions, bicycle tours, and community projects are also on SHINE’s October festival agenda.
