Four New Performances Announced

St. Petersburg, Fla. (June 19, 2017) – The Fall/Winter entertainment offerings for downtown St. Pete keep growing, as the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts announced four new performances coming to the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater and Palladium Theater.

Tickets for all four shows go on sale to the public Friday, June 23 at 10 a.m.  Tickets may be purchased online at TheMahaffey.com, charge by phone at 727.893.7832 or in person at The Mahaffey Theater Box Office. The Box Office is open Monday – Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Maxwell

After releasing four studio albums, all praised as classics, the R&B/soul pioneer Maxwellwill stop in St. Pete  Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at 8 p.m. at The Mahaffey Theater showcasing his fifth album, BlackSUMMERS’night. The Grammy award-winner has been performing to sell-out crowds for more than 20 years. His signature single “Pretty Wings,” is part of a sensual, pathfinding trilogy.  The album landed on most critics’ “Year’s Best” lists and snared two Grammys, with Rolling Stone praising it as an “album about love, not sex, for grown-ups who know the difference.” Fans will enjoy iconic singles like “Til The Cops Come Knockin’,” and “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder),” among others, exploring love and heartbreak as only Maxwell can.

Pink Martini with singer China Forbes

Pink Martini with singer China Forbes will be in town to wow audiences at the Mahaffey Theater on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.  For more than twenty years, Pink Martini has toured the world, providing an around-the-world musical adventure singing in 22 languages at opera houses, concert halls, film festivals, museums and fashion shows.  Fans know the musical group that formed in 1994 was known as a “little orchestra,” mixing many genres including classical, Latin, jazz and classic pop.  St. Pete is proud to present Pink Martini featuring lead singer China Forbes. They’ve come a long way since Thomas Lauderdale founded Pink Martini in 1994 to provide more beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks for political fundraisers for causes such as civil rights, affordable housing and the environment. In 2014, Pink Martini was inducted into both the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.

American Rhapsody: The Gershwin Songbook

Rejoice! It’s nice to know some things in the music world never change. Music lovers can sing along to classic songs during American Rhapsody: The Gershwin Songbookcoming to The Mahaffey Theater on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at 3 p.m. The afternoon will salute the beloved composer George Gershwin with a seventeen piece band and vocalist Michael Andrew performing favorites  from  “I Got Rhythm,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “The Man I Love,” and many other time-honored Gershwin standards.  Enjoy world class jazz musicians with a big  band sound.

Mahaffey on the Move presents Vic DiBitetto at the Palladium Theater

Comedian Vic DiBitetto will offer fans nonstop laughter at the Palladium Theater on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at 8 p.m. His comedic style has been called a cross between Rodney Dangerfield and Ralph Kramden. The Grand Prize Winner of ABC network’s America’s Funniest People is a gifted improvisational actor. He is also known for his YouTube videos.  You’ll find him featured in Kevin James’ movie Mall Cop: Blart 2, and independent films Turkey’s Done and Who’s Jenna.

The Mahaffey Theater
