Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point Names the Annual Volunteers of the Year

June 9, 2017 by Post

Hudson, Florida (June 9, 2017) – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is proud to announce the selection of their 2016 female and male volunteer of the year award recipients. The volunteers of the year are Dixie Cagle and Adrian Borel.

Dixie Cagle joined Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point Volunteer Association in 2009 and has volunteered 17,500 hours. She is known as a volunteer with a winning smile who greets patients and families at Welcome A and Welcome D and at the Medical Office building. In addition to these duties she also helps with special projects for the association. She is chairperson for Welcome D, is courier team leader, and member of the awards committee. She has also served two years as Director at Large on the Volunteer Association Board.

“We can find Dixie here at the hospital working on holidays and when we are short staffed she steps in and works double shifts and even triple shifts at times,” said Volunteer Manager Donna Owen. “Dixie is that truly dedicated volunteer not only proficient but efficient in getting the job done. She exemplifies our mission and value statement in her loyalty to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, our patients, visitors, staff, and fellow volunteers is the reason she is receiving the award,” she added.

Adrian Borel has volunteered at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for nearly 28 years and has accumulated over 15,000 hours of service. Adrian worked for 26 years in the pharmacy, averaging 20 hours a week. Two years ago Mr. Borel started working in materials management making deliveries throughout the hospital. He was awarded the Five Star Award in 2014 and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President George W. Bush in 2008.

“Adrian’s quiet, humble, hardworking, good-natured demeanor always serving with a smile on his face earns him respect and is liked by all,” said Volunteer Manager Donna Owen. “He is a volunteer who is dedicated and always serves others with a cheerful personality and goes out of his way to assist his coworkers, our patients and our visitors,” she added.

Adrian’s dedication to serving others and his selfless desire to put others’ needs above his own is a true example of what volunteering is all about.
