SARASOTA, FL – The Hershorin Schiff Community Day School has just received notification of its successful five-year accreditations by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) and Florida Kindergarten Council (FKC), which is the preschool accreditation arm of FCIS. Community Day is currently the only school in our region fully accredited by FCIS, FKC, and Prizmah – The National Center for Jewish Day Schools.

FCIS – a nonprofit professional association of elementary and secondary schools throughout the State of Florida – is one of only 10 state associations in the U.S. whose accreditation process has been recognized by the NAIS Commission on Accreditation, the international authority on independent school accreditation, representing schools in over 100 countries. Through its evaluation and accreditation program, the association strives to assure that each member school maintains high standards and independence. Earning the honor of FCIS accreditation launches Community Day into the upper echelon of independent educational institutions in the nation and the world.

In the report by FCIS representatives who visited the school, Community Day was described as “a kind, positive, loving school with polite, warm, respectful and well-spoken children.” They went on to describe the program as an “exemplar” and a “strong model” with “academic excellence” evident in every classroom. The school received high marks for the skill of its faculty, and the classrooms, facility and grounds were described as beautiful and reflective of the loving environment within the school.

“We are so proud to have successfully navigated the accreditation process free of any FCIS or FKC standard violations and with such glowing reviews. Our entire staff – with full support from our Board of Trustees – worked very hard to prepare reports and plan for the visits by the auditors,” said Community Day head of school Dan Ceaser. “FCIS accreditation is truly the seal of educational excellence to families seeking an independent school education, placing our school among the very best schools in the nation. We remain committed to achieving the very highest educational, ethical and professional excellence for our students and the community we serve.”
