TAMPA, FL (May 23, 2017) – Tampa Bay Technology Leadership Association (TBTLA), a leading technology association offering education, networking, and volunteer opportunities to IT technology executives throughout Tampa Bay, today announced it will host more than 120 children at its GETSMART event on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. located at Tech Data Corporation.
“As a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring and educating the leaders of tomorrow, GETSMART is our outreach opportunity to help children throughout Tampa Bay broaden their knowledge about STEM-related careers,” said Cindy Brown, Founder and Board Member at Large at TBTLA. “We are honored to work with the University of Tampa and Tech Data to help make this event possible for the past eight years. Through the event, we hope to motivate children to learn more about technology and the exciting career opportunities.”
Co-hosted by TBTLA and Tech Data Corporation, this summer’s GETSMART event will offer students from grades 4-12 a free opportunity to participate in several fun and interactive technology-related activities, including:
• Breakdown and discover what makes up a computer
• Learn how to code
• Develop your own program and fly a drone
• Build a solar robot
• Meet professionals in STEM-related careers
• Enjoy complimentary breakfast and lunch
• Have a chance to win exciting raffle prizes
