CARES is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser now through August 14, 2017. New or almost-new shoes will be collected at four CARES sites throughout Pasco County. The donated shoes will be purchased from CARES non-profit mission to help seniors, caregivers and families. They will then be redistributed to help create and maintain micro-enterprise opportunities in developing countries, where economic opportunity and jobs are limited.
“We are excited about this shoe drive,” said Jemith Rosa, CARES President and CEO. “Many of us are blessed to have abundance in our lives; even shoes that are never worn, for one reason or another. By donating them to CARES you will help people here in our community and make a difference in people’s lives in other parts of the world.”
“Our goal is to raise 2500 pairs of new or very gently used shoes,” said Brenda Martyniak, CARES Communications Director. “We invite other organizations and service groups in Pasco County to hold a shoe drive and help CARES make this goal.”
Men’s, women’s and children’s shoes are all acceptable. Any types of shoes can be donated such as, sandals, sneakers, boots, flip flops, and slippers. The shoes must be new or in pristine condition. Please do not bring the shoe boxes.
