St. Petersburg, FL (May 17, 2017) – The city of St. Petersburg is hosting a Small Business Salon at the Manhattan Casino, 642 22nd St. S., on Thursday, May 25, 6 to 8 p.m. “Building on the Future” features a panel discussion where attendees can learn more about contracting opportunities in St. Petersburg and surrounding municipalities. Free and open to the public, the event will also feature a networking mixer.
The purpose of “Building on the Future” is to educate contractors and tradespeople about the contracting opportunities in the community and how to position yourself for “ongoing, long term” contract opportunities. Any attendees that are not currently certified by the city of St. Petersburg as a Small Business Enterprise (SBE), will be provided the necessary documents to do so. SBE certification is important because the city currently sets aside a portion of most construction related projects for SBE participation.
Attendees will be able to network and ask questions of the expert panelists all of which have successful businesses. Small Business Salon panelists include: Julie Daniels, president and owner of Handymen for All; Thomas Huggins, founder and president of Ariel Business Solutions; and O.T. Delancy, president of Strategist Project Support Services, LLC. Claude Williams, with The St. Petersburg Greenhouse, will serve as moderator.
Business owners, entrepreneurs, contractors and construction-related firms are encouraged to attend. To register, contact Ondria McDonald at 727-893-7767 or ondria.mcdonald@stpete.org.
The “Building on the Future” Contracting Opportunities and Networking Mixer is cohosted by the city of St. Petersburg Urban Affairs Division, The Greenhouse, the Tampa Bay Black Business Investment Corp., and The 2020 Plan Taskforce.
