Earl of Sandwich – the “World’s Greatest Hot Sandwich®”– Offers $5 Featured Sandwiches May 15 – 19
Tampa, FL, (May 12, 2017) – Earl of Sandwich is celebrating the culinary achievement that first introduced sandwiches by offering a different $5 featured sandwich each day during British Sandwich Week May 15 – 19.
In 1762, the 4th Earl of Sandwich invented the meal that changed dining forever. As the story goes, he was playing cards and did not want to leave the gaming table to eat. He asked for a serving of roast beef to be placed between two slices of break so that he could eat with his hands. Thus, the Sandwich was born.
The globally-recognized, fast casual restaurant named for the Earl features fresh, made-to-order sandwiches and other treats. There are three Tampa Bay locations and a fourth restaurant is scheduled to open later this month.
Featured sandwiches that will sell for $5 on their designated days are as follows:
Monday, May 15 – The Original 1762
This is reportedly what the 4th Earl ate on the fateful night he is credited with inventing the sandwich. Beef with bread and some horseradish for kick!
Tuesday, May 16 – The Full Montague
A tribute to the 4th Earl of Sandwich and to all of the Montague clan. Roasted beef, turkey, Swiss and cheddar cheeses, lettuce, Roma tomato and mustard sauce add a modern twist to John Montagu’s original creation.
Wednesday, May 17 – The Earl’s Club
While the club sandwich was not created until the late 19th century, legend has it that it was invented in a gambling club in upstate New York. Since the 4th Earl of Sandwich started his culinary movement while gambling, we believe John Montague would approve.
Thursday, May 18 – Ham ’N’ Swiss
The ham sandwich, one of the earliest closed-face sandwiches on record, endured with its presence among London street vendors in the mid-1800s and evolved throughout the centuries.
Friday, May 19 – Hawaiian BBQ
This was a tribute to the discovery of the Hawaiian islands, originally named the Sandwich islands by Captain James Cook. Captain Cook’s travels that resulted in his discovery of these islands were commissioned by the 4th Earl.
These limited time offers are valid with in-store purchases only and are not valid with any other offers or discounts.
