SARASOTA, FL (May 9, 2017) – Losing a loved one is never easy. When that loved one is a furry family member it’s certainly not any easier. Now imagine if that furry family member was a dog that also “facilitated life’s journey with mobility, independence and dignity” as a guide dog for the visually impaired and veterans. That loss would be especially difficult. It is in honor of these dogs and the special bond they create that Bogati Urn Company will donate 10 percent of select pet-related items in its catalog sold during Guide Dog Awareness Month (May 2017) to Southeastern Guide Dogs.
Founded in 1982 in neighboring Palmetto, Fla., Southeastern Guide Dogs creates and nurtures partnerships between visually impaired individuals and guide dogs, as well as provides service dogs for veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder. The organization employs the latest in canine development and behavior research and has the distinction of being dually accredited by the two premier, global accreditation bodies: the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) and Assistance Dogs International (ADI).
“The number of lives changed by the Southeastern Guide Dogs is definitely something to celebrated and recognized. We are proud to both call them neighbors and do our part to help them fulfill their mission,” said Andrea Bogard-LeBlanc, owner of Bogati Urn Company.
That mission includes serving more than 450 graduates across the U.S. and placing more than 100 dogs each year. All dogs and services are provided at no cost to recipients with the organization receiving no government funding.
Items eligible for the donation can be found online at https://bogatiurns.com/product-category/bogati-gives-back/.
“We have experienced the bond between owner and pet ourselves, and we see daily how much others love their pets and want to memorialize them when they pass,” Bogard LeBlanc said. “The Southeastern Guide Dogs take all that to yet another level, and we think that’s pretty incredible.”
