Pinellas Economic Leadership Symposium
The future of Pinellas County and its economy was the topic of a two-day Economic Leadership Symposium hosted April 20-21 by Pinellas County and regional partners. Welcome New Businesses!
The City is seeing a flurry of new business openings, including: Two Frogs Brewery, 151 E. Tarpon Ave., Hello Sunshine Cafe, 212 E. Tarpon Ave., KCQue BBQ, 310 E. Tarpon Ave., and Dream House Ink at the west end of the Sponge Docks. Coming soon to the Publix plaza outlot is Jersey Mike’s Subs, and Wendy’s on US 19 is being demolished for a new, modern store.
Tarpon Professional Center Brings Primary Employment to US 19
More primary employment jobs are coming to the City as a medical office complex is under construction on US 19 across from Lowes. The Tarpon Professional Center will consist of one two-story and three one-story buildings totaling 35,500 sq. ft. Anchored by a medical dialysis center, the new complex brings more than 20 office and professional jobs.
Callista Cay, Anclote River Crossings Begin Construction
Two residential subdivisions left unfinished from the mid-2000 housing downturn are now under construction. Callista Cay, 800 Meres Blvd., and Anclote River Crossings at Safford and Live Oak, will bring 46 new townhomes to the City beginning this year. These new projects are in addition to eight other residential developments that will add more than 500 new units in the coming years. A groundbreaking for Callista Cay will be held Friday, May 12.
Dredge Funds Included in State Budget
The City’s request to the State for funding the spoil site for the Anclote River Dredge Project has successfully made it through the Senate and House. State Sen. Jack Latvala recently sent an update letter to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners, and members of the Marine Commerce Committee. The budget still must pass the Legislature and be signed by the Governor.
