DETAILS: Community residents will join together for fun, art and food in this free celebration.
Utilizing produce from the community garden, healthy food demonstrations will be offered. Also, the Art in the Park Team will create their second installation, a sculpture to represent “family.” University Area CDC’s Prodigy Moves will provide dance instruction, while its Get Moving! staff will offer sports and other physical activities. Music will fill the air and lunch will be provided.
Harvest Hope Park is in transition, as ground has been broken to begin preparations for a playground, a multi-purpose sports field, tilapia fish pond, walking trails, upgraded sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, irrigation and parking. A community garden already is in place, as is the Harvest Hope Center, which includes a kitchen to be used for teaching purposes.
University Area CDC provides support for thousands of Tampa residents through youth programs, adult education and resource assistance. Its primary mission is the redevelopment and sustainability of the at-risk areas surrounding University of South Florida’s Tampa campus.
