April 21, 2017, (Tampa, FL) The TGH Brandon Healthplex is now offering new services: two family practice physicians are now seeing patients aged 18 and older, and the outpatient surgery center is now open.
Dr. Dorothy Russ and Dr. Mark Lamielle, with the Tampa General Medical Group (TGMG), opened their practice April 5. Both are board-certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Russ is a graduate of the School of Medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. She completed her family medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
Dr. Lamielle graduated from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, and completed his residency at Doctors Hospital of Stark County in Massillon, Ohio. He spent 25 years in private practice in Ohio and was medical director of four nursing facilities. He recently was part of the JSA Medical Group in Sun City Center.
The outpatient surgery center has six operating rooms and two endoscopy rooms for adult and pediatric patients. The center has 13 recovery rooms and 24 pre-and-post-procedure bays.
These new services come less than a month after the opening of the adult and pediatric emergency center at the Healthplex. Since its March 27 opening, the emergency room has seen a steady increase in patients, averaging more than 30 a day. The emergency room has 20 private beds and two resuscitation areas. It is staffed 24/7 by board-certified emergency medicine physicians.
The TGH Brandon Healthplex is Tampa General’s first outpatient healthcare facility. Later this summer, the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine will have offices there with doctors specializing in Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery and Nephrology.
