What is it?
In 2016, Mayor Kriseman and City Council approved $500,000 toward tree plantings. A small amount of the funds were used for a certified arborist to do site evaluation work that may be expanded on as the city is able to expand with an eye toward a broader urban forestry program. Tree Czar, and former Mayor, Dave Fischer identified corridors in each City Council District to be evaluated for visibility, utilities, tree types that can thrive in those areas. (See attached DRAFT map.)
Why Attend?
Community members have requested that they be a part of the upcoming plantings to understand the direction, the tree type recommendations, and to provide input on that information. In addition, the city would like to have your ideas on alternate areas for planting should the original corridors identified have utility or construction conflicts for the timing of this planting program.
