Staff and Volunteers to Clean and Enhance Neighborhood

WHAT: Earth Day celebration: Clean-up, Enhancement and Pizza Party

DETAILS: The University Area CDC will jump start Earth Day celebrations a day early by improving a university area neighborhood, with focus on a park-in-progress and vacant lots. Volunteers from the community, Hillsborough County Planning Commission, Leadership Tampa and a local church will join University Area CDC staff in activities such as planting vegetables in the Harvest Hope community garden, aiding in the pond restoration project in Harvest Hope Park, building and painting 10 large tree planters to be established in neighborhood vacant lots owned by University Area CDC and removing debris from the area. In time, these lots will be utilized for affordable housing.
The morning’s efforts will culminate in a free pizza party for volunteers at 1 p.m.
