April 11, 2017 by Post

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (April 10, 2017) – Three St. Petersburg high school juniors will represent the city of St. Petersburg as student ambassadors to Takamatsu, Japan, during a cultural exchange visit July 5-14. Zachary Blair-Andrews, Lakewood High School, and Chloe Johnson and Deaja Jenae Henry, both attending St. Pete Collegiate High School, were chosen by the city of St. Petersburg’s International Relations Committee last week.

During their stay, the students will learn about Japanese culture while sharing St. Petersburg experiences with their host families and Takamatsu city officials. Upon their return home, Zachary, Chloe and Jenae will present an overview of their visit to City Council.

Later in July, St. Petersburg will host three student ambassadors from Takamatsu who will share their culture with host families and the community. Several community programs are planned to introduce the students during their stay.

For additional information about the Student Ambassador and Sister Cities exchange program, contact Lotta Baumann, St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society, Inc., (SPIFFS) Executive Director, at 727-552-1896 or folkfair@ij.net.
